This included a paddleboarding experience at Llandegfedd Reservoir. It was a great day that young people enjoyed, having conversations regarding substance use, harm reduction and the importance of wellbeing whilst on the board. Once everybody was comfortable using the paddleboard activity worker Bec even led a mini yoga session which empowered the conversations about trying new ways of wellbeing.
Another of the activities was a Wellbeing Day at Pencoed Farm. The day started with a breathwork session learning 3 different breaths, Energising, Calming and Full Body relaxation scan. The group then took part in contrast therapy which involved 3 rounds of 10 minutes in the sauna, followed by 3, 4 and then 5 minutes in the ice baths. This gave everyone a chance to put there breathwork into practise when entering the cold water.
The group then stopped for a milkshake from the Littlest Dairy, with 20 delicious flavours to choose from and finished with a Mindful Crafting session and a discussion around mindfulness techniques and how to bring awareness to the present moment by using our 5 senses in everyday things that we do. The group enjoyed making pom pom keyrings to take home.
Overall both activities were enjoyed by both staff and young people with everyone taking away some new wellbeing tools to practise at home.
